I want to be a published author

I kind of laugh at the thought, it sometimes seems outlandish, but why the hell not? I have written enough over the last 7 years to compile several books. I have an amazing idea for a book, something that will keep the reader guessing and on their toes. I just have to finish writing it... Therein lies the problem, with kids, husband, school and work and now its summer and the kids are always home, I just never seem to have enough time in the day... Contemplating taking 4 months off from my school once the kids go back to focus on writing... The main thing I am afraid of, what if I put all this effort into writing a book and no one will publish it?... That would suck...

Even if you can't find a publisher there are other ways to get published! A lot of writers are "self published" and with many things going electronic, it's becoming much easier to self publish. You can do it! There are something like only 200 full time authors in the entire world who are able to live off of their book income and millions of others who are self publishers (not counting bloggers). Most everyone who tries to publish gets declined by major publishers multiple times before being picked up. It seems very discouraging but don't give up on your dream. Where there is a will there is a way and I have no doubt that you'll be able to get published one way or another and people will read it too :)

I help promote numerous self - published authors. One recently made the USA Best Sellers List. With the age of Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, etc, self - publication is easier than before. It does cost a little more up front, but in the end you have complete control over your "baby". I am working on my first novel now and will self - publish. I have learned so much by helping other self - published authors (and forming friendships with them). Feel free to contact me.
