Wordless Wednesday - Big Black Carpenter Bee

I did not take this picture, I am not that brave, I found it online. But I had to warn everyone who wants to visit or move to Hawaii that there are scary bees here... If your planning a trip you might want to reconsider. There big and scary and they like to dive-bomb people standing around minding there own business. There used to be two that would chase all the kids and parents outside my daughters class every morning. The teachers discovered it was attracted to the table right by the door (because they burrow holes in the wood) and had the table removed which made the bees go elsewhere. I have heard they don't sting you but they sure are creepy and I definitely wouldn't want it landing on me. Ick!

Thank god they don't sting! At the size of that thing you'd think it'd pack a punch!

I have never seen a black bee and I would probably poop my pants if one came near me. We have tons of wasps over here and I run away like a total punk if one starts heading my way!

I have no plans to visit Hawaii any time soon but that really gives me the creeps. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

That bee does look scary! We get black wasps burrowing in our back yard, they are mean and sting too, but aren't larger than normal wasps at least.

I don't like any insect bumping into me, stinger or not! One day I'll tell you about the 17 year cicadas (or locusts) we have here...horrible.

LOL I never had any trouble with the Carpenter Bees when I lived in HI.. They don't sting but they do BITE! Plus they are also on the mainland (aka the states) and I HAVE had trouble with them here..

I am allergic to bee stinks. So, yet another reason I won't be making it to Hawaii anytime soon (number one reason is money:-)

I don't like bugs at all ... we have our share of them in Florida. Whenever I try and get a photo of one, I stand about 50 feet away and use my zoom! LOL Happy WW!

OH yes, we have huge bumblebees, mosquitos and wasps here. NO FUN!

Happy WW!

We got bees like that around the house I grew up in... Holes all over the eaves of the house. What was really fun was when the woodpeckers would come along and try to get them... then we had REALLY big holes! And lots of noise! They are totally aggravating! Other than that, I hope you are enjoying your new locale!

I am NOT a fan of bugs at all, however, if you look at its wings, they are really very beautiful. The body is quite nasty though!
