  • Bobo's Got a Cold
    Monday, November 30, 2009
My poor little boy has a runny nose and a cough... I hate when he gets sick, I feel so bad for him. Evey time he gets sick his coughs sound like hes going to hack up a lung, its terrible. He's only 2 1/2 so there are no over the counter medicines I can give him. It very frustrating. And he is just like me, colds like to linger and take forever to go away. It sucks. I woke up with a sore throat and a cough this morning too. I only hope that I don't get sick as well.... I'm going to go take Airborn and some Zinc.

  • Happy Thanksgiving!
    Thursday, November 26, 2009

    Happy Thanksgiving
We will have a house full today! There will be 9 adults and 7 children at my house. We have invited our friends and neighbors over. This is the 3rd year in a row we have held Thanksgiving Dinner at our house. We deep fry the turkey (so good, its the only way I will eat turkey) and I give an ingredient list to everyone thats coming. Everyone brings there ingredients over and we all cook together! Its always a lot of fun. I make sure everyone helps in the cooking even all the men! Hubby is always in charge of the Turkey and he does a wonderful job! I am baking 3 pumpkin pies right now!
Being in the military, we are always far away from our family and don't always get to go home for holidays, especially this one. Hubby loves Thanksgiving! Three years ago we decided to start the tradition of inviting over all our friends who were also away from their families, especially the single Marines who are all alone.
So today we gather together with our "Military Family" and I am thankful that I have found friends like them.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  • Review - Norelco 180 Degree Clippers
    Monday, November 23, 2009
I cut hubby's hair every Sunday. To me, it doesn't look like he needs a hair cut that often, but there are Marine Corp standards he has to follow. Since I have not learned how to do the "High and Tight" military hair cut, I just buzz it all off as short as I can get it.
I was given the opportunity to do a review of the Philips Norelco 180 Degree Hair Clippers (5100 series).
These clippers are pretty nice! First off, there cordless! I love that, you plug them in to charge. You can use them while there plugged in also, but that wouldn't be as fun. Also you can cut hair from 7/8 inch to 22 mm in length! Pretty cool! Check out the clippers in my video review:
    video
Sorry I didn't realize the sound wasn't working when we filmed this. He is cutting his hair, like I said it doesn't even look like it, but there is a minute amount of hair that he has to cut.
Hubby cutting his own hair with the new clippers (he looks so serious):
    video

The Norelco 180 Degree Hair Clippers are priced at $39.99.

Stay tuned for another review of the Norelco Kids Clippers (Bobo gets a hair cut)!

    Meet Kelly and Ken!!
I have known Kelly for over 17 years (that's over half my life) she is one of my dearest friends! We met in 6th grade and have been great friends ever since. Kelly and Ken have been married for over 2 years and wish to add an addition to their adorable family! Kelly is unable to have children and they would like to adopt. If you know of anyone that is thinking about the adoption option please have them contact them, either at their Blog: Someone Special is Missing from our family or through their adoption profile.
I was so exited when Kelly told me they were trying to adopt!! She was born to be a mother and will make a wonderful one!! I wish them lots of luck in this process! They are a wonderful and adorable couple!!! I cant wait for them to become parents!!

  • Marine Corp's 234th Birthday Ball
    Friday, November 20, 2009
Last night we went to the Marine Corp Ball! It's held every year to celebrate the Marine Corp's Birthday, which is November 9th. Hubby wore is his Dress Blues and I wore a fancy dress (its actually the dress I wore when we got married, 7 1/2 years ago)!

My hair is naturaly very curly and my neighbor came over and helped me straighten it! Hubby kept saying "Ive never seen you with straight hair", he also said it made me look a lot younger! (I'm 30, shh, don't tell anyone)

This table was set to represent those who have fallen.
-I found this online, it was one of the many toasts I hear last night at the Ball-
    The fallen comrade toast:
“Marines, I too have a toast. I would direct your attention to the table at the rear where a place has been set for those Marines who have gone before us. The military way of life is filled with much symbolism. The table provides a way to tell us that members of our profession, whom we call “brothers”, are unable to be with us this evening. It is set for one, yet there are many represented by the single chair. The table is draped in black, symbolizing the color of mourning; the ultimate sacrifice, a table set in honor of our fallen comrades. The single lighted candle reminds us of the flame of eternal life that the memory of our fallen comrades will be with us always. The Purple Heart medal displayed to reflect the infliction of wounds and the ebb of life in battle. The identification tags blank, yet they could bear the name of Marines of every creed and color, and from every state in the Union. The dinner setting inverted, they dine with us in spirit only. Those who have died so that we may live, our former comrades who have earned the glory and have given to us the respect and pride that we, as Marines, hold so dear.”
“Marines and honored guests, let us honor our fellow Marines, who have gone before. A toast to all Marines who have died for our beloved Corps.”

  • Teenager at 6 years old
    Monday, November 16, 2009
Sometimes I feel like I already have a teenager. I am afraid of when she actually reaches that age.
Princess is 6 1/2 and she has already learned to lie to her parents, she doesn't listen when I ask/tell her to do things. She somehow got the idea that its OK to do what she wants instead of listen to me.
She drives me crazy, its frustrating beyond belief. I feel terrible because I am always yelling these days, I ask her once to do something and she completely ignores me so my instant reaction is to yell.
Hubby and I have caught her lying. I have tried to tell her how wrong it is to lie, but I always feel like everything I say goes in one ear and out the other.

What would you do with a little girl who lies and doesn't listen?

  • Cleaning the Kitchen Sink
    Sunday, November 15, 2009

Is is just me, or does cleaning your kitchen sink seem somewhat pointless. I feel like every time I clean it, its just dirty again the next day. I know its really not as bad as it was before I cleaned it. It just always seems like a wasted effort. I hate cleaning.

  • Things Kids Husband's Say
    Saturday, November 14, 2009
About 2 weeks ago, I mentioned to Hubby that I was going to take down our Halloween decorations and start putting up our Christmas decorations. Hubby says "since your taking down the Halloween stuff you might want to take the orange off your toes as well" (I had orange polish on my toes). A few days ago I took the orange polish off my toes but hadnt put new on yet, I was sitting on the couch with my feet propped up on the coffee table and he starts wacking my feet with the socks in his hand because he didnt like them because they werent polished.
He's funny like that, he seems to think I should always have perfectly polished toes and if I don't, he gives me a hard time until I fix them. He doesn't care about my finger nails as much, although he does like it when I have long acrylic nails on and there painted (which I had when we met).
Its funny, most men don't even notice painted nails, but my husband does. I now have pretty red polish on my toes!

    Aloha Friday
What's Aloha Friday? Visit An Island Life to find out.

    Question of the day:
Its Friday the 13! Are you superstitious?

A: I'm not really. I do believe in Fate and Soul Mates, and that everything in life happens for a reason. Even if you never figure out what that reason is.

  • I Need Potty Training Tips for Boys
    Thursday, November 12, 2009
I am pretty sure Bobo is ready to start potty training! He says "go potty" whenever he gets into the bathroom. He always tells me when he poops. I have already bought him a potty seat which he wants to sit on (clothed) whenever given the chance. I am thinking about starting potty training after Thanksgiving. I just want to be sure he is ready before I try (I guess you can never be totally sure). What other signs should I look for?

My sister has given me the following Potty Training Tips for Boys (Do you have any others to add to the list?):
    1. Be PATIENT it will take a long time and there will be set backs!
    2. Let him pee standing up when ever he is ready
    3. Let him watch Dad pee
    4. You will have messes to clean up, and don’t worry about aim until he is trained.
    5. Switch to underpants during the day, even if you have to change him five times, he will get tired of being wet
    6. Oh! And incentives are your best friend! I did jelly beans, we put them in a jar and sat them on top of the toilet, one for pee, two for poop.

  • I hate when Hubby's on Duty
    Saturday, November 07, 2009
It's Saturday, I don't want Hubby to work on Saturdays... But he has duty today. Which means he works from 8AM this morning till 8AM tomorrow morning. The way the command does it here is they always want a Sergeant on duty on the weekends (in case anything goes wrong) and there are only so many Sgt.'s so Hubby will pretty much get duty every other weekend. At least its not every weekend. But he gets very little sleep when on Duty so he will come home tomorrow morning and need to sleep half the day to catch up. So, it kinda screws our weekend. It doesn't even feel like Saturday. Actually it feels like Sunday because Princess didn't have school on Friday.
The only nice part is, since we live on base where he works he can come home for lunch and dinner. There is another person on Duty with him so they switch off with sleep and getting meals and such.
    Duty sucks....

    Aloha Friday
What's Aloha Friday? Visit An Island Life to find out.

    Question of the day:
Does your state do the time change? What is your time difference from Hawaii?

A: Hawaii does NOT do the time change and oddly enough, we are on the later time schedule, meaning it ALWAYS starts getting dark around 6:00 PM. You would think being its perpetual summer we would be on the earlier time schedule so it wouldn't get dark till later...
The local time here is: (I had a clock widget posted but I don't think it was working right)

Hawaii is in its very own time zone, were 2 hours behind California.

  • Friends vs Military Life
    Thursday, November 05, 2009
I left my BFF in Virginia....
Being a Military Wife, is tough, for so many reasons. One of which, every time we move, I not only leave friends behind, but I have to make new ones all over again. Something I am not the greatest at (you would think I would get better after 7 1/2 years, but no). I have always had a hard time making friends, I'm kinda shy and I am not good at approaching people.
I finally made a very good friend in VA. I have mentioned her a time or two on this blog. Our daughters were in the same class in Kindergarten. She is a former Military Wife, so she could totally relate to me which made us click pretty easily. I we quickly became friends. I hate that I had to leave her. Its not very often that you find a friend like that. We still keep in touch the best we can and I think we always will. It just sucks to have a Best Friend I cant hang out with anymore.
